Rubin Museum lecture at The Met revisits flowering trees and beauties in Nepalese art

Asia Week New York’s 12 October notice makes the Rubin Museum’s Distinguished Lecture in Himalayan Art at The Met available online. In “Flowering Trees and Beauties in Nepalese Art,” scholar Gautama V. Vajracharya discusses new research on the salabhanjika—an image of a young woman beneath a tree—and Sanskrit sources that challenge long-standing interpretations in Buddhist and Hindu art.
